Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Reunite For Movie About The Creation Of Air Jordans

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are back together in film, on and off screen. The couple, who made their first hit in theaters thanks to their Oscar-winning screenplay Good Will Hunting, have teamed up for their new movie, Air, which hits theaters on April 5.

Air is about how Nike created their signature shoe: the Air Jordans. While it's hard to imagine a world without these sneakers, it wasn't until 1984 that some desperate businessmen took on a then-unknown rookie named Michael Jordan as inspiration for a new basketball shoe.

“This touching story tells the story of a life-changing career for an unconventional team with everything on the line, an uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the value of her son’s great talent, and a basketball phenomenon who will become the greatest player of all time.” says the short version of the film.

In addition to starring in the film, Affleck and Damon play key roles in the film's production. Air will be the first film released by Artists Equity, the duo's new production company.

"Matt and I are very excited for the audience to see AIR and are proud that this is the first release from Artists Equity," Affleck said in a January press release distributed by Variety. "It was the best creative and personal experience of our lives and we look forward to many more like it."

Affleck also directed the film.

Viola Davis, who recently earned EGOT status thanks to her 2023 Grammy win, will take on the role of Delaris Jordan, Michael's mother and protector of her talented son's career and reputation.

The full trailer for the film has surfaced online, and it looks like Affleck and Damon still have great on-screen chemistry and comedic timing.

According to Vanity Fair, "Air" will hit theaters on April 5 and then be available on Amazon Prime sometime after its release in theaters.
